Conquer – Discover – Experience in the Roman Land of Carnuntum

Owing to its geographic location the Römerland Carnuntum region has often been the scene of historical events of European significance. With the Exhibition of Lower Austria 2011 the region is now also writing museum history: Conquer, discover and experience Petronell-Carnuntum, Bad Deutsch-Altenburg and Hainburg an der Donau!

The Petronell Open Air Museum entices visitors with a faithful reconstruction of a district of the Roman town of Carnuntum including fully functioning baths. The 1,200 artefacts displayed in the exhibition Images of Gods - Images of Humanity at the Museum Carnuntinum give a fascinating insight into Roman religious practices. The Hainburg Culture Factory tells the story of conquest and discovery from prehistory to the present day and awakens guests’ spirit of research.

As well as visiting the exhibitions, visitors should also conquer, discover and experience the region itself with its unique landscape where trains, boats, rental bikes, e-bikes and 380 kilometres of cycle paths and 180 kilometres of hiking trails await. 159 high quality partners in the region ensure superb hospitality. With a varied programme of cultural events visitors will definitely want to come back to the Exhibition of Lower Austria 2011 more than once.
