On 15 November 2011 the Exhibition of Lower Austria “Conquer – Discover – Experience in the Roman Land of Carnuntum” closed its doors. During the exhibition 554,438 visitors set out on a unique journey through the centuries at three locations – the Petronell Open Air Museum, the Hainburg Culture Factory and the Museum Carnuntinum in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. It is already clear that “Conquer – Discover – Experience in the Roman Land of Carnuntum” was one of the most successful Lower Austrian exhibitions in the 51-year history of this cultural project, and not just in terms of visitor numbers.
Even after the end of the Exhibition of Lower Austria 2011 there will be plenty of exciting discoveries to be made in the Roman Land of Carnuntum and the exhibition sites in Hainburg, Petronell-Carnuntum and Bad Deutsch-Altenburg.
The exhibition “Images of God – Images of Humanity” about Roman religious practices at the Museum Carnuntinum in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg that was especially created for the provincial exhibition will be shown again in 2012. In the years to come the Petronell Open Air Museum will continue with the experimental archaeology it has so successfully begun.
We would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Lower Austrian Exhibition 2013 on the topic of Bread and Wine.
